Specialized Adhesive Solution

Since the mid-90s, headlight lenses have transitioned from glass to synthetic materials like Polycarbonate.

Hitta’s automotive headlight adhesive solution provides excellent adhesion for Polycarbonate lenses with coatings such as Polypropylene and Polybutylene terephthalate, commonly used in modern designs.

High elasticity and durability make the adhesive an excellent choice for bonding Polycarbonate and Polypropylene.

In certain applications like fog light adhesion, the adhesive must have excellent heat resistance.

From a process perspective, the adhesive allows for leak testing post-bonding on demand within a very short time.

Application Range:

  • Headlights.
  • Tail lights.
  • Side lights.
  • Fog lights.

Benefits of Automotive Headlight Adhesive:

  • Fast processing.
  • Excellent heat resistance.
  • Adheres to various materials.
  • Instant bonding at room temperature.
  • Lighter vehicles.
  • Provides a sealed bond.

Selecting the appropriate adhesive type

PUR adhesive

Hitta’s PUR adhesive provides OEM customers with high-performance, innovative solutions, including single-component polyurethane adhesive. The advantages of PUR adhesive include its ability to bond various substrates and its application in the direct bonding process in the automotive and bus industries.

Adhesive advantages:

  • Flexible modulus from low to high.
  • Excellent stress separation resistance under various climatic conditions.
  • Strong adhesion without the need for primer for paint, glass, and ceramics on various substrates.

Applications:

  • Direct glass bonding.
  • Bonding various materials such as CFRP, aluminum, steel, PC, PP.
  • Automotive trim bonding.

Two-component polyurethane adhesive

Two-component polyurethane adhesive is used to bond various plastics, metals, and composites, primarily in assembly processes. The adhesive typically consists of a polyol component and the remaining component is isocyanate hardener.

Adhesive advantages:

  • Wide range of adhesion.
  • Faster curing with heat (curing time can be <2 minutes).
  • Room temperature curing.
  • Excellent aging resistance and environmental resistance.

Hot melt adhesive

Hot melt adhesives are typically based on polyurethane, polyolefin (with reactive components), or thermoplastic rubber.

Hot melt adhesives are ideal for bonding synthetic materials, metals, wood, paper, fabric, and foam for both automotive interior and exterior applications. The curing process occurs as the adhesive cools. The curing rate varies depending on the air humidity, ambient temperature, as well as the moisture and permeability of the substrate being bonded.

Advantages:

  • Wide adhesion range on both polar and non-polar substrates.
  • Ultimate durability and high flexibility over a wide temperature range.
  • Environmentally friendly.
  • Excellent aging resistance and heat resistance.

Silicone 1 & 2 component adhesive

Silicone 1 & 2 component adhesive provides excellent adhesion to glass, metal, coated metal, plastic, and wood, meeting the most stringent material bonding requirements related to automated industrial processes.

Silicone 1-component adhesive begins curing when exposed to moisture in the air. Silicone 2-component adhesive begins curing at room temperature immediately after the two components are mixed, and this process can be accelerated by higher temperatures (up to 50°C).

Applications:

  • Headlights.
  • Fog lights.

Advantages:

  • Excellent UV and weather resistance over a wide temperature range.
  • Superior heat resistance.
  • Wide range of adhesion.
  • High stability.
