BOSTIK S548 SEALANT

Bostik S548 GLASS ‘N’ SEAL WEATHERSEAL is single component, neutral curing, ready-to-use silicone elastomer which is highly suitable for weatherseal and glazing applications. It is moisture curing sealant that yields permanently flexible and strong seal. In addition to the unique features of silicone rubber such as superior high and low temperatures resistance, water resistance, and outstanding weatherability, Bostik S548 GLASS ‘N’ SEAL WEATHERSEAL also provides excellent adhesion to glass, metal and numerous construction materials.

Application

Bostik S548 adhesive is specifically developed for premium window bonding and sealing various indoor and outdoor door types. It is designed for areas exposed directly to sunlight, awnings, weather shields made of extruded PVC, aluminum-plastic composite, and other bonding and sealing applications in construction. Application Areas:

  • High-grade windows and door sealing.
  • Outdoor and indoor sealing.
  • Sunlight room and sun-roof.
  • Curtain wall weather seal.
  • Weatherproof for aluminium plate.
  • Aluminium-plastic plate, and other applicable construction joint sealing.

DIRECTIONS OF USE

A joint with the correct dimensions is able to absorb movements between building materials. The joint depth should always be in the correct relationship of the joint width. A general rule is the ratio of joint depth to the width of the joint with a joint width up to 10 mm is 1:1, with a minimum of 5 mm in width and depth. For joints wider than 10 mm, the depth is the width divided by 3 plus 6 mm.

SURFACE PREPARATIONS AND FINISHING

Application temperature: + 5°C to + 40°C (applies to environment and substrates). All substrates must be solid, clean, dry, and free of grease and dust. Clean substrates with Bostik Cleaner Bostik S548 GLASS ‘N’ SEAL WEATHERSEAL adheres perfectly without the use of primer to most non porous substrates. Porous substrates to be pre- treated with Bostik Universal Primer. Always test adhesion prior to application. Use Finisher to smooth the joint.

PAINTABILITY

Bostik S548 GLASS ‘N’ SEAL WEATHERSEAL is not paintable. We recommend covering the edges of the joint with masking tape to prevent surfaces that need to be painted from being contaminated by silicone.

CLEANING

Tools should be cleaned after use with water. Hands can be cleaned with Bostik Wipes and/or water and soap. Cured material can only be mechanically removed.
