Odourless, non-staining instant adhesive – AFINITICA BX05

AFINITICA® BX05 is a MECA-based Instant Adhesive with high viscosity, odorless, non-staining, non-hazing, non-irritating, non-eye irritant adhesive, more flexible than Ethyl-based adhesives, designed for bonding various types of plastics and different rubber materials.

The consistency of the formula has been designed for easy application and ensures high bonding strength even in areas subjected to bending. Careful selection of formula components ensures that the product does not stain areas near the adhesive joint. The product is non-irritating.

MECA instant adhesive

AFINITICA is a pioneer in Methoxyethyl Cyanoacrylate (MECA) adhesive, a non-irritating, odorless, non-hazing monomer. Furthermore, the development of innovative ways to balance reactivity and stability in 2016 allows us to offer unique products with long shelf life at very competitive prices.

Performance

Under normal conditions, air moisture initiates the curing process. Although curing occurs to achieve full bonding efficiency in a relatively short time, the curing process continues for at least 24 hours to achieve complete chemical resistance.

Shear strength will depend on the substrate. The table below shows shear strength for different substrates using a standard ISO 4587 cutting test.

Curing in 24 hours at a temperature of 22 degrees Celsius.

The fixture time is the time during which an adhesive bond (250 mm2) can withstand a load of 3 kg for 10 seconds. The fixture time will depend on the substrate. The table below shows the fixture time for different substrates using a tensile cutting force.

This product is not recommended for use in oxygen-rich and/or pure oxygen systems and should not be selected as a sealant for chlorine or other strong oxidizing materials.

Usage Instructions

• Before applying the adhesive, ensure that the bonding surface is clean, dry, and free from grease.
• Apply the adhesive to one of the surfaces. Do not use items like paper towels or brushes to spread the adhesive.
• Assemble the parts within a few seconds. The parts should be accurately positioned, as the short fixture time allows little opportunity for adjustment.
• The bond should be held stationary or clamped until the adhesive has set.
• The product should reach full strength before bearing any load (typically from 24 to 72 hours after assembly, depending on the bond gap, materials, and surrounding conditions).
• Optimal storage: 2 – 8 degrees Celsius. Storage at lower temperatures may adversely affect the product’s characteristics.
• Product shelf life: 12 months.
